We all have busy lives, jobs, families, and of course our horses! It's hard enough to stay on top of all that let alone stay on top of critical events in our horse community and educate ourselves on what we can do to help individually. Community Equestrian is here to help simplify all that for the concerned Colorado equestrian by helping them understand the inner workings of local government processes and alert them to ways to contribute action. We'll put out the call for letter writing campaigns, critical meetings to attend, events and programs that need your input.
One of our main goals here at Community Equestrian is to support our horse organizations. Whether it's Westernaires, Dressage, Trail, Driving, or Rodeo, these organizations represent so many ways in which we enjoy our horses and their unique needs and contributions need to be recognized and promoted. They are also key partners in helping us get the word out for important issues and action planning.
Professional services serving the horse community have a lot at stake here right along with our Colorado equestrians and organizations. If we don't take a stand to protect our community there will be no community to serve.
CSU boasts one of the top equine veterinary schools in the nation. 4H programs teach our youth vitally important life skills through the horse experience. Equine Therapy helps millions of people heal and grow through mental and physical health challenges. Summer camps, riding schools for adults and children all provide access to the horse experience for people who don't have their own horses or who are exploring horses for the first time. We must protect and promote the value of equine education.
When people think of Colorado, most certainly the images that flash through their minds include sweeping western scenes and riders on horseback. Horses have deep roots in Colorado. Horses belong here. People want to live in Colorado for the special balance of life our state offers that blends the great outdoors with where we live. Horses integrate so wonderfully into that setting, providing the open spaces and green buffer zones that keep us from becoming an ugly urban sprawl. With creative and intelligent planning there's no reason we cannot integrate the equestrian world into our growing Colorado communities to protect our heritage for future generations.
The horse community needs to make it's voice heard at planning and zoning reviews. Here's the access portals to Planning and Zoning.
